At the end of 2024, Umphrey’s McGee, a rock band originally from South Bend, Indiana, known for their genre-expansive and improvisation-heavy sound, played four shows in Colorado to bring in the New Year.

The shows featured classic original tunes such as “All In Time” and “1348”, as well as covers of “Canned Heat” by Jamiroquai and “Voyager” by Daft Punk. In signature Umphrey’s style, the shows included long passages of improvisation and technicality; keeping fans on their toes, not knowing what to expect next. The talented members of this progressive band benefited from the masterful use of multiple M-Spheres, strategically placed where powerful beams got in touch and reflections illuminated the whole venue. The fixture helped create an immersive atmosphere that blended seamlessly with the bands sound.
Arranged across the midstage and upstage trusses, as well as interspersed throughout the floor package, the RGB halo featured in the M-Sphere was eye-catching throughout the night, providing the show with a futuristic look thanks to its vibrant colors and flashy patterns.
The Tour Lighting Director, Ben Factor, shared via Instagram: “We brought in the brand new M-Sphere fixture from MEGA-LITE to make these shows feel big! Half disco ball and half flat mirror on a moving head, these fixtures opened up a lot of possibilities. Disco party to weird asymmetrical stuff to rotating UFOs; we had a lot of fun!!” he said. He was most impressed with the size of each mirror ball section; which reflected a thicker beam of light than a standard mirror ball.
The four nights featuring the M-Sphere were a spectacle out of this world. Each show was an opportunity to experience the power of the MEGA-LITE gear, a true testament to the versatility and precision the company represents.
MEGA-LITE thanks Squeek Lights for providing Ben with the gear needed to bring his vision to life.
